Live Copilot vs Post-Call Conversation Intelligence
Post-call conversation intelligence has been the default for a decade. Tools in this category — Gong, Chorus, Salesloft and others like them — record a meeting, transcribe it, and score it afterwards. They are good at what they do: giving a manager a searchable record of what was said on every call. The limit is not the quality of the analysis. It is the moment the analysis arrives, which is after.
An autopsy is still an autopsy
When a buyer raises a sharp objection about price, timing or a competitor, a recording tool captures the rep working through it. The review happens later — that afternoon if the team is disciplined, next week if it is not — and by then the buyer has decided what the next step is. The insight is real. It is also about a conversation that is over.
A live copilot is built around the opposite constraint: the suggestion has to arrive while it is still true. Ours has a budget of 1.3 seconds from the end of the prospect's sentence to words on the rep's screen, and we publish what we measure against it: p50 84ms and p95 800ms on real speech. How we got there, including the two-hop design that failed, is written up in full.
Where the two designs differ
| Post-call conversation intelligence | Live copilot (Crack Sales) |
|---|
| When it acts | After the call, hours or days later | During the call, inside a 1.3-second budget |
| Who it serves first | The manager reviewing calls | The rep on the call |
| Output | Transcript, scores, searchable library | One suggestion at a time, then a report afterwards |
| Joins the meeting | Commonly as a recording participant or through the meeting platform | No — a native desktop app reads system audio on the rep's machine |
| CRM | Varies by product | Drafts a summary and next steps; a person approves every write |
What a live copilot adds, and what it does not replace
A copilot adds the thing a recording cannot: help at the instant of the objection, grounded in your own Sales Brain — your value pillars, the objections your buyers actually raise, the competitors you actually lose to, the proof you are allowed to cite. It does not replace review. Crack Sales keeps its own post-call record for exactly that reason: every finished call has a report with a summary, scores, signals and next steps, plus a transcript you can download.
Because it adds no participant to the call, it does not change the meeting itself. If your team already records calls with another tool, nothing about the call has to change to try a live copilot alongside it.
How to decide
- If your problem is that you cannot see what is happening on calls, you need review and analytics. A recorder is the right tool.
- If your problem is that reps freeze at the moment that decides the deal, review will not fix it, because it arrives too late to. You need something live.
- If you are not sure which problem you have, run the live one on your own calls. A 15-minute intro call is how that starts, and it is free to use, and the buyer's guide to copilots, conversation intelligence and coaching software lists the questions to ask any vendor, including us.
Try it on your own calls
Crack Sales is free to use on your own sales calls, and it starts after a 15-minute intro call. Book a demo.
